AMD Radeon HD 7950 Reference Pictured

The Press shots of HD 7950 suggests that it will not be sharing a common AMD Radeon Graphicsdesign with its bigger brother HD 7970. It will also use a separate PCB design than HD 7970, eliminating any chance of being unlock able to HD 7970.

Unlike HD 7970 colling assembly, which pushes hot air out of the case, the reference HD 7950 design uses a cost-effective heatsink with internal ventilation using a top-flow fan. HD 7950 ref. pictures HD 7950

Nvidia Kepler to Arrive in Q2 2012

Nvidia’s next generation GPU architecture, both desktop and notebook variants, is coming in early Q2 2012. . Nvidia is late to the party, but with some overclocking, the old GeForce GTX 580 still stands up well against the Radeon HD 7970, and the rumor in graphics circle is that Kepler will end up significantly faster than the Radeon HD 7970.

The April launch refers to the high end card launch and probably a few other more, not a low-end card as some leaked road maps suggested. It is the same time frame as the Ivy Bridge arrival. The new plan calls for launching the GeForce Kepler when the company is able to insure hard availability and have all of its partners covered.
