AMD’s Second Tahiti based 28nm Graphics Card Radeon HD 7950 would launch on
January 31st.
HD7950 will be the second card in the HD7000 Series to use GCN Core Architecture. Radeon HD 7950, as it’s name suggests is a harvested Tahiti chip with 28 CUs enabled, for a total of 1792 Shader Processor and 112 Texture Mapping Units. It will have 3GB GDDR5 memory. A cheaper 1.5 GB variant is also expected in the future. Performance are not known yet, but by the general specifications and price, it should end up edging out the GTX 580.
The rest of the AMD lineup(Pitcairn / HD 7800 ), except the dual-GPU New Zealand card, should follow in February 2012, but yet precise dates are not confirmed. Fudzilla also report that NVIDIA is planning to release its first Kepler GPU – GK104 – around the same time.
